The Idea
- What is Shigaru.com?
- Shigaru.com is basically a free multilingual educational resource where users can upload their music tutorials and share their knowledge with the world. No matter what instrument you play or what level you are at we are sure that someone somewhere will benefit from you choosing to share your knowledge with the world.
- Is Shigaru.com really free?
- Yes it is free and it will always stay that way! We think that knowledge should be free and available to everyone regardless of their economic situation.
- Where do our videos actually come from?
- All the content is provided by YOU the users. Having a private music teacher or attending a music school is ideal but it is a luxury that many people can't afford. Also, many don't have the time or commitment to signing up for a long course. With shigaru.com you have free 24 hour access, 7 days a week, to our ever growing video library.
- Why upload your videos to Shigaru.com
- - For the same reason that people upload their videos to Youtube and other similar sites. The difference is that uploading your guitar tutorials to one of those sites is like leaving a needle in a haystack… your videos could become lost amongst the millions of videos that are already in their huge uncategorized databases. We like to think there is more chance of your videos being seen and appreciated by music lovers around the world if you upload your tutorials to shigaru.com
- If you are a music teacher it may be a chance for you to promote your services or music school.
- If you play in a band or if you are a solo artist you can use the site to promote your music (upcoming concerts, blogs, personal websites etc.)
- Or you may simply enjoy seeing yourself on the web ;-)
- Is Shigaru.com a multilingual website? Can I upload a tutorial in any language?
- We pride ourselves on Shigaru.com being a multilingual educational website. We want it to be accessible to the world. So we are looking for tutorials in any language. Anything from Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese, Finnish, Spanish, Swedish, Klingon... Basically ANY LANGUAGE!! If you can, record your tutorial in your native language and then record the same video again but this time in English. This is a way of ensuring that your tutorial can be appreciated by as many people as possible.
- Why should I sign up to Shigaru.com?
- Read all the above comments… we are the best and you better go tell the world or else…! We are alive and amplified! You don't have to sign up in order to be able to see all of the videos in the Video Library. The advantage of signing up is that you will be able to upload videos, edit your "My Account" area, comment and rate videos, contact other Shigaru users, promote your band, website, blog etc.
The only thing we want from you is your musical knowledge and for you to share it with the world. That's all folks!
